April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player American, is among a select group of women who have won medals in more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold medal over the next few days. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic gold. In fact, at 39 this may be her last chance to achieve it. However, she's convinced that top prizes are within reach. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well I believe we can win the gold medal." Additionally, I'm going put my faith in a touch of good luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. While at Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous sports. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in basketball, indoor volleyball as well as running track. However she was clearly an edge over the other players in this latter game. According to her bio in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Ross is currently playing with Klineman since 2017 but her beach game was established well before the year. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was an all-star volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Together, Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. Ross had an impressive run through college. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year however, she was capable of achieving the All-American title. In her last two seasons in the Trojans team, she led them to victory by winning the national title in consecutive years. As an individual Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the top female volleyball players at colleges across the nation. Ross was a student of the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She has kept her parents close to her heart. Also, Margie remains a source of encouragement for her on the beaches and throughout life.
